What to see?

Bakchisaray is rich in cultural and natural attractions. The most famous of them are the Bakhchisaray's ancient Khan's Palace, numerous "cave towns", the Great Canyon. Practically all the localities are within an easy driving or walking (if you are a fan of hiking) distance. Bakhchisaray is also locately closely to all the interesting sites of Western Crimea - Sevastopol, Saki, Evpatoria, Tarhankut. All of those places are close enough for a convenient day-trip. Below we propose a brief overview of the most frequently visited places in and around Bakhchisaray:

Ханский Дворец

The Khan's Palace - ancient, light, simple and beautiful with its fountains, trees, yards, mosques, harems and towers. For seveal hundred years the epicenter of Crimea's political life. Do not leave without visiting the "Fountain of Tears" made famous in Pushkin's poem.

Зынджырлы Медресе

Zindzhirli Medrese - the oldest "university" in Crimea, associated with the name of Ismail Gaspirali, a famour Crimean Tatar intellectual. Recently the Medrece underwent a comprehensive restoration, and is awaiting its visitors.

Успенский Монастырь

Uspenskii Monastery - ancient, entirely restored, and currently operating, Uspenskii dates its history to the Crimean Khanate days. In approximately 3 km. from Dilara-Hanum, on the way to Chufut-Kale, the cave town.

Чуфут Кале

Chufut-Kale - one of the most famous "cave towns" in Crimea. You reach it by walking through a canyon between two plateus. There are more than a hundred caves, old walls, the Karaim prayer houses, gates and breath-taking views.

Balta-Tiimez - a Karaim cemetery in several hundred meters after the Chufut Kale, on the way to Tepe Kermen "cave town".

Скалы

Rock climbing for those who likes active and extreme sports. In Bakhchisaray there is more than 100 "routes" equipped with hooks for climbing safety. Absolutely free of charge. Distance from Dilara-Hanum - zero meters (starts in our backyard).

Эски Кермен

Eski-Kermen - another old "cave town", away from the beaten paths, 14 km. from Bakhchisaray.

Тепе-Кермен

Tepe-Kermen - "cave town" in 10 km. from Bakhchisaray, accessible mainly by foot. Not a bad one-day hiking trip.

Мангуп

Mangup - the capital of the old Genoese Feodoro kingdom, later a Turkish bastion. It is a huge plato with the old walls, wells, water springs and caves. Ideal for a one-day hiking trip, in 10 km. from Bakhchisaray.

Большой Каньон

The Great Canyon - the largest canyon in Ukraine, formed more than a million years ago. The distance is about 30 km. from Bakhchisaray. There is a river at the bottom and many cristal-clear small lakes.

Кача

Bakhchisaray beeches - the raion has more than 30 kilometers of them. They are not as good or as famous as the Southern Crimea, but much less crowded, and are in only 20 minutes drive from the city.

Ослиная ферма

Donkey farm - in Zalesnoie village, 18 km. from Bakhchisaray. There are around 30 donkeys of Central Asian origins on the farm, you can rent them for hourly trips in the nearby forest. The owners claim that the farm is unique in Ukraine.

Ай-Петри

Ai-Petri - a famous plato with a breathtaking view of the Southern Coast is only 40 kilometers from Bakhchisaray. You drive or walk past the Great Canyon on a winding road in a forest. Undoubtedly one of the most exciting trips one can take in Crimea.

Кезлев

Evpatoria (Kezlev) - 70 kilometers from Bakhchisaray, it is widely recognized for its shallow, sandy sea, mild weather and numerous kid camps. On the way you pass Saki, a town famous for its black kil with recognized medical value. 

Казантип

Kazantip - the Orange Republic. A CIS-known festival of alternative music, which started on an abandoned nuclear station site, and then moved to Western Crimea. Starts on July 25 and lasts until mid-August.

Тарханкут

Tarkhankut - is Crimea that everyone has heard of, but very few people have actually seen. Far from the more visited touristic attractions, this is the area of really wild beaches, Goa-people, wonderful cristal-clear water, diving. 120 km. from us.

Фиолент

Sevastopol - 60 km. from Bakhchisaray, has many interesting museums, installations, the Russian and Ukrainian fleets that can be seen by the tourists, the Fiolent cape, the ancient Greek Khersones, the Balaklava bay.

Херсонес

Khersones - "for more than two thousand years was the political, cultural and economic center of the Northern Black Sea region". Enough said, 60 km. from Bakhchisaray

Балаклава

Balaklava - a picturesque bay close to Sevastopol, a starting point for a variety of boat trips to the wild unaccessible beaches of this part of the Black Sea.
