Bahchisaray region is great for people, who like active holidays: hiking, trekking, rock-climbing, biking, mountain-biking, etc. There are few villages, lots of wild nature to be explored. The main touristic attractions are the historical Khan's Palace, now a museum, and the ancient Chufut-Kale, a cave town. Both are located in the old part of the city, and both are in a walking distance from our hotel.
If you would like to explore a little further, there are other attractions:
* Balta - Tiimez - an ancient Karaim cemetery right outside of Chufut Kale
* Tepe Kermen - past Balta Tiimez, across a canyon another cave town, far less accessible and "commercialized" than Chufut Kale
* Mangup - another, larger cave town, but further down the road. Great for a day-long biking trip.
* The Great Canyon of Crimea - in Sokolinoye village vicinity, the canyon is several kilometers long. Beautiful and wild, there is a very clear river at the bottom, and several natural swimming pools (but very cold). Makes for a great day-trip with hiking. Car transfer is required, unless you fancy walking around 60 km there and back.
* The donkey farm - people say it is "unique". There are around 30 donkeys that can be ridden for 50 hryvny (10 dollars) an hour. If you were ever curious about how it is to ride a donkey, there is a chance to find out.
* Ay-Petri - Crimea's perhaps most famous mountain. Approximately 40 kilometers from Bahchisaray, via a picturesque winding mountain road. Ay-Petri directly overlooks the Southern Coast of Crimea and the Yalta city. It is also the shortest (if not necessarily easiest) road from Bahchisaray to Yalta.
* Sea-side - Bahchisaray has around 20 kilometers of its own sea-side. Not as well-developed as the Southern Coast, or even the Kezlev (Evpatoria) beaches, but is great for a relaxing and rewarding day after a difficult hike. We can help with arranging a trip to Kacha, Orlovka, Peschanoye, etc.
